Our service package

The rehabilitation process is divided into three treatment phases that merge smoothly into one another. Each phase pursues specific goals and builds systematically on the progress of the previous phase. All therapeutic measures are tailored individually to the needs, the symptoms and the healing progress of each patient.

1

Acute phase br(inflammation phase)

Inflammatory and pain mediators are released. Symptoms that may occur: pain, swelling, redness, warmth, functional impairment.

2

Subacute phasebr (proliferation / repair phase)

The inflammation subsides. New, very thin tissue (type III collagen) is produced, which is subsequently remodelled into stable tissue (type I collagen).

3

Remodelling phase br(repair / remodelling phase)

In this phase the newly formed tissue is mainly strengthened and functionally adapted through remodelling processes. Type III collagen is restructured into type I collagen.

1 Acute phase (inflammation phase)

Duration of the therapy phase: 2 weeks

Goal of the measures: Pain reduction

Reducing pain improves the mobility and function of the affected area. Pain reduction also enables the patient to learn and perform exercises that help avoid poor posture.

Frequency

  • 1x orthopaedic initial assessment / diagnostics
  • 3x per week physiotherapy
  • 2x per week red light therapy and electrotherapy
  • Infusion therapy and infiltration therapy as required

Measures in the acute phase:

Orthopaedics

  • Infiltration therapy (e.g. local anaesthetics, corticosteroids)
  • Infusion therapy to reduce pain and inflammation

Physiotherapy

  • Soft tissue techniques (STT): Soft tissue techniques are manual treatment methods that aim to release tension in muscles and tendons, promote circulation, improve mobility and thus reduce pain. Soft tissue techniques include classic massage, fascia therapy and myofascial trigger point treatment.

  • Manual therapy (gently dosed / grade I-II): In manual therapy the physiotherapist uses their hands to mobilise and stretch joints, muscles and soft tissue with the aim of promoting mobility and thus relieving pain.

  • Positioning techniques (e.g. step positioning): Positioning techniques are special positions of the body used to take pressure off certain areas. These techniques are used above all after injuries or with chronic complaints.

Device-based services

  • Electrotherapy (TENS, interferential): In electrotherapy, electrical impulses are used to stimulate specific parts of the body. The current is conducted via electrodes on the skin to the nerves, muscles or joints in order to relieve pain, relax the muscles and promote healing. Electrotherapy aims to improve the patient’s wellbeing and is not painful. Main effects of TENS: pain relief and promotion of endorphin production. Main effects of interferential current: pain relief, stimulation of circulation, muscle relaxation.

  • Red light therapy (for muscle relaxation): In red light therapy, infrared rays are applied to the body using a lamp. This radiation penetrates deep into the skin and tissue and leads to local warming. The main effects of this form of heat treatment are: pain relief, promotion of healing and relaxation.

2 Subacute phase (proliferation / repair phase)

Duration of the therapy phase: 6 weeks

Goal of the measures: Pain reduction & restoration of function

The goal of this phase is to relieve acute complaints and gradually restore functions relevant to everyday life. The focus is on pain-relieving measures and gentle mobilisation.

Frequency

  • 1x orthopaedic follow-up check (clinical / radiological if required)
  • 2x per week physiotherapy
  • 2x per week red light therapy and electrotherapy
  • Shockwave therapy if required, 1x weekly
  • Infusion therapy and infiltration therapy as required

Measures in the subacute phase:

Physiotherapy

  • Mobilisation techniques (passive / active-assisted): Targeted, controlled movements are used to improve the mobility of joints and tissue. Mobilisation techniques can be performed independently by the patient as a home programme (active), or they are practised with the therapist during the physiotherapy session (passive, assisted).
  • Building up everyday functions (e.g. standing up, walking, bending)
  • Trunk stabilisation & posture training (basic)
  • Progressive increase in activity depending on pain tolerance
  • Pain reduction through movement (mobilising exercises)
  • Introducing and teaching an individual home exercise programme (HEP)

Device-based measures

  • Electrotherapy (depending on tolerance / need)
  • Red light therapy if required
  • Shockwave therapy for accompanying muscular problems (e.g. myofascial): In shockwave therapy, targeted acoustic waves are directed at painful areas of the body and penetrate deep into the tissue (radial SWT 2-3 cm, focused SWT 4 cm). Shockwave therapy promotes healing at cellular level, reduces inflammation and stimulates circulation. Shockwave therapy is frequently used for chronic complaints, tendon inflammation (tennis elbow), calcium deposits (heel spur) or muscular tension. Shockwave therapy must not be used after local cortisone treatment (6 weeks).

3 Remodelling phase (repair / remodelling phase)

Duration of the therapy phase: 12 weeks

Goal of the measures: Functional stabilisation therapy

Targeted exercises are used to increase resilience in order to stabilise the newly formed tissue and to secure function and freedom from pain in the long term.

Frequency

  • 1x orthopaedic follow-up check
  • 1x per week physiotherapy
  • 1x per week red light therapy and electrotherapy

Measures in the remodelling phase:

Physiotherapy

  • Equipment-based training
  • Free functional training (body weight, unstable surfaces)
  • Building up strength and functional mobility
  • Training in ergonomic principles (work, everyday life, leisure)
  • Movement analysis (gait pattern, posture, movement chains)
  • Creating a long-term home programme (written / digital)

Device-based measures

  • Electrotherapy (depending on tolerance / need)
  • Red light therapies (if required)
  • Shockwave therapy for accompanying muscular problems (e.g. myofascial) – if required
